Rocky Point is located about 60 miles west of the Sonoran border town of Sonoyta, which shares a border crossing with Lukeville, Arizona.

Highway 85 South leads to the border crossing at Lukeville, and also passes through the Arizona town of Why, about 30 miles north of the border.

Directions to Rocky Point from Phoenix

Take I-10 West to Buckeye, to the highway 85 exit. Take Highway 85 South to the border. Note: the highway jogs at Gila Bend, take the same exit as I-8 to San Diego and drive west until you see the McDonald's. Make a right turn before you reach the McDonald's, then turn onto the continuation of Highway 85 South.

Continue on 85 South through the town of Ajo, to the border at Lukeville. Stay on the highway as you pass into the Sonoran town of Sonoyta. Follow the overhead signs that direct you toward Puerto Peñasco, and Rocky Point is approximately 60 miles from Sonoyta.

Directions to Rocky Point from Tucson

Take I-10 East and exit at I-19 South. Exit right onto Ajo Highway (Highway 86), and continue on Ajo Highway until you reach the intersection with Highway 85 South (about 2.5 hours). Take a left onto highway 85 and continue straight for 30 miles, until you reach the border town of Lukeville.

Stay on the highway as you pass into the Sonoran town of Sonoyta. Follow the overhead signs that direct you toward Puerto Peñasco, and Rocky Point is approximately 60 miles from Sonoyta.

Directions to Rocky Point from Marana / North Tucson

Take I-10 West to the interchange with I-8 West (at the Tanger Outlet Stores, just outside of Casa Grand). Follow I-8 West to the second exit at Gila Bend and after exiting turn left onto Highway 85 South.

Continue on 85 South through the town of Ajo, to the border at Lukeville. Stay on the highway as you pass into the Sonoran town of Sonoyta. Follow the overhead signs that direct you toward Puerto Peñasco, and Rocky Point is approximately 60 miles from Sonoyta.
